Concrete is a crucial material in civil engineering.
The concrete strength is a function of the ingredients. These ingredients include cement, blast furnace slag, fly ash, water, superplasticizer, coarse aggregate, and fine aggregate. All measurements are given in kilograms per cubic meter (kg / m3)
The most expensive ingredient in concrete is the cement, so minimizing concrete costs, means minimizing the amount of cement.

The use of slag in concrete has several benefits, including reduced energy, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and reduced use of raw materials. It works synergistically with portland cement to increase strength, reduce permeability, improve resistance to chemical attack and inhibit rebar corrosion.
Ash use in concrete improves the workability of concrete, and the strength and durability of hardened concrete. Fly ash use is also cost effective. When fly ash is added to concrete, the amount of portland cement may be reduced. Fly ash when used appropriately can; reduce costs, cement contents and associated embodied CO2 emissions, placing less demand on the use of natural resources when used in concrete.
Superplasticizers are powerful water reducers that enable an increase in the ultimate stress of concrete by decreasing the w/c ratio, a decrease in the cement content while maintaining the same range of strength or workability, an increase in concrete compacity, and other effects.

Aggregate materials help to make concrete mixes more compact. They also decrease the consumption of cement and water. Aggregates make up 60-80% of the volume of concrete and 70-85% of the mass of concrete. Aggregate is also very important for strength, thermal and elastic properties of concrete, dimensional stability and volume stability. … Including aggregate in the mix can control the shrinkage level and prevent cracking.
Air entrapment admixtures are typically made of Natural wood resins, alkali salts, animal and vegetable fats and oils, althought there are many synthetic options as well. These entrain a large number of uniform, stable and closed tiny bubbles in the process of mixing concrete to reduce the segregation of concrete mixture, improve the workability, and also enhance anti-freeze ability and durability

What is CV? As you know, standard deviation of a dataset is a way to measure how far the average value lies from the mean. The larger the standard deviation, the more spread the values are from the sample mean. However, the designation of high or low standard deviation depends on the data you have. A standard deviation of 5 for a vehicle which averages 17 miles per gallon, has a relatively higher than an annual Dow Jones standard deviation of 2000 on an average of 35870. One way to understand whether or not a certain value for the standard deviation is high or low is to find the coefficient of variation (CV).
To calculate CV, take the standard deviation, and divide it by the mean. This calculates a ratio between the standard deviation and the mean. The higher the CV, the higher the standard deviation of a sample relative to the mean.
Take the following data: 10,10,11,12,13,17,19,22,25,26,26,26,30,35,50. The avg is 22.1. and the std dev is 11.0. This tells us the typical value in this dataset are 11.0 units away from the mean. The CV of 0.49 tells us that the standard deviation is about half the size of the sample mean.
