Research the key leaders in the company you have chosen for your final project. Common leaders to consider researching include the CEO, President, Vice President, CFO, and any board members. Based on what you find in your research, do you feel the company leaders are generally more transactional or transformational leaders? Why? Given the current circumstances of your company and the economic environment in which they operate, do you feel the leaders are demonstrating the best leadership form possible? (transactional versus transformational). Why or why not?
Hello Fresh is the chosen company.
According to Bloomberg, Hello Fresh’s current CEO is Dominik Richter. Richter co-founded the company in 2011 and has served as its CEO since then (Bloomberg, n.d.).
Based on Richter’s leadership style as reported by various sources, including Glassdoor and Forbes, it appears that he leans towards a transformational leadership style. Transformational leaders inspire and motivate their employees to strive for excellence and work towards achieving the company’s vision (Cherry, 2021). Richter’s focus on innovation and growth, as well as his emphasis on creating a positive company culture, suggests that he embodies many of the characteristics of a transformational leader (Glassdoor, n.d.; Forbes, 2020).
Given the current circumstances of the company, including the competitive meal kit delivery market and the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, it appears that Richter and other Hello Fresh leaders are demonstrating effective leadership. The company has experienced significant growth in recent years, expanding into new markets and acquiring other meal kit companies. Additionally, Hello Fresh has been able to adapt to the challenges posed by the pandemic by implementing new safety protocols and expanding its delivery options (Forbes, 2020; Hello Fresh, 2021). These actions suggest that the company’s leadership is able to balance both transactional and transformational approaches to leadership in order to effectively navigate the current economic environment.
